The Magic of Affirmations
I give myself permission to do what is right for me.
I give myself the care and attention that I deserve.
I trust that I am on the right path.
I put my energy into things that matter to me.
I make a difference in the world by simply existing in it.
Affirmations are positive statements and reminders just like the ones above, used to spark motivation and encouragement and help reframe negative bias / thinking.
Most of us find that it is a lot easier to positively affirm others, but we also need to a compassionate and encouraging nudge ourselves as well.
Repeated daily, affirmations are a tiny but mighty way to improve your mood and mindset on a without a lot of fuss, and can pack a punch when they’re connected to your personal values and experiences.
Bob Proctor - author and philosopher, wisely reminds us that “what you think about, you bring about”.
And the science behind affirmations also suggest they are worth our attention. One study published in the Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience journal used an MRI to reveal that practicing self-affirmation activates the reward centres in the brain. It fires up the neural pathways. It changes tho areas of the the brain the spark positive emotions.
Dialling up positive emotions opens our hearts and our minds, making us more receptive, creative and connected, in the good times and when we find ourselves navigate challenge and struggle.
