How to Use Affirmations

  1. Get clear on what you want. Think about what you specifically want to accomplish, improve or change. Shape it to be as specific and simple as you can, with positive language.

  2. Write it. Say it. See it. Feel it. So it’s easier for positive thoughts and feelings to flow, write your affirmation in the present tense - as if you have it now. For example rather than “I will achieve my goal”, write “I have success in all my endeavours”. Then give it a voice. Harness your imaginative power by creating an image or vision to accompany it. And tune into the heart felt positive emotions that arise.

  3. Give it emotional weight. Positive affirmations that have a lot of positive energy and emotion behind them will help you harness positive thinking much more easily. Check and adjust so that it resonates with you.

  4. Repeat it regularly. Let it be your mantra. As a minimum include your affirmations as part of your morning and evening routine.
